Admissions & School Visits

Visiting the School

We welcome parents and carers on our monthly tours of Goodrich School. The tours are led by one of our teaching staff who share their knowledge of the school and answer any questions.

We visit classrooms and talk to children which we hope will help you get a really good feel of our school during the working day.

Due to COVID-19 we need to limit visitors on site so ask that children do not attend. Tours start promptly at 9.30am and last approximately 45 minutes.

Just email us at office@goodrich.southwark.sch.uk or call us on 0208 693 1050 to book in on one of our tours.

We look forward to meeting you.

If you would like a place on a tour, please contact the school office on 020 8693 1050.

The member of staff responsible for admissions in Years 1-6 is Cathy Devlin.

Admissions

Children from Reception to Year 6, are admitted to the school according to the guidelines laid down by Southwark Council. For more information please visit the Southwark School Admissions website: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions

The admissions criteria we follow for Nursery are:

  • Children in public care (looked after children).

  • Children with educational, medical or social needs where professional advice indicates that placement would be beneficial; this includes children with an EHC Plan which names the nursery class.

  • Children for whom it is their nearest nursery class or nursery school.

  • Children who have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of entry.

Goodrich Nursery

In the UK, all children aged 3 and 4 are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery funding a week or 30 hours if they meet the criteria. This can be taken as morning or afternoon slot for 15 hours or all day for 30 hours.

Please note there are additional charges for lunch and lunchtime supervision for children who stay for 30 hours.

Your child can begin Nursery the term after their 3rd birthday. If you would like to apply for a place in our Nursery please contact the school office or download the application form below and return it to us.

Reception

Admissions are carried out by Southwark Council only. Parents must apply through Southwark Admissions on 020 7525 5337. Alternatively, applications can be made online at www.southwark.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

If a child is refused a place parents may appeal against the decision. The Appeals Committee is an independent tribunal set up to examine each case to see if the particular circumstances warrant the place above maximum numbers set for the school. Further information on the appeals procedure is available from the school.

In Year Applications

In year admissions, are arranged through the school if a place is available. Please contact Clare Grady at the school office, on 020 8693 1050.

All prospective parents are encouraged to visit the school for one of our pre-arranged tours, bookable through our website front page.  We firmly believe that good education can best be achieved when parents, teachers and children work together for common aims.  Parents must satisfy themselves that the school is providing what they expect and that their child will be happy.  The best way of checking that this school will meet your needs is to visit and see for yourself.

If you wish to visit the school please call the office on 020 8693 1050 to arrange.
