We aim to enable children to be able to find out about different periods and events from the past by equipping them with the basic skills needed to carry out historical enquiry. They are able to do this by examining evidence and learning about causes and consequences of historical events.
Children learn to use a variety of historical sources of evidence which include artefacts, pictures, photos and documents, in order to develop the enquiry skills.
We enable children to develop a good sense of chronology, helping them to place different periods of history into a time frame.
We make good use of trips and regularly take children out to places of interest such as the Museum of London, the British Museum and Margaret McMillan House in Kent.
